Loudwater
Chronicles
Session 6:
Once Illi and the goblin finished the first round of insults, Illi considered how to approach interrogating something.
Illi: Silas, what should I do? You’re the one who wants to interrogate him.
Silas: Just ask him questions. Find out what he knows.
Illi took a long look at the goblin and shook her head.
Illi: I don’t know what to do - I’ve never done this before.
Silas: *irritated loud sigh* Ask him what he’s doing here.
Illi: *in Goblin* What are you doing here?
Goblin: *spitting insults at Illi*
Illi: Artemis, get that bucket of water over there.
Artemis grabbed the bucket of water and then pulled out her hammer and started hitting it against her hand. The goblin, seeing this, was in utter fear. Illi noticed this and decided to take full advantage.
Illi: What are you doing here?
Goblin: Digging, digging deep.
Illi: They’re digging…
Silas: Ask them what they’re digging for! (getting sick of Illi not being able to do this :P)
Illi: What are you looking for?
Goblin: *looking away from Artemis and at Illi* *hissing* What’s it to you little girl?
Illi nudged Artemis with her elbow, and the goblin looked over to Artemis, cowering again at the mighty hammer that Artemis was beating against her palm.
Illi: What are you looking for?
Goblin: Don’t know. Master says dig, we dig.
Illi: He doesn’t know why - he says their master told them to dig here.
Silas: Who’s their master? Where is he? (do I need to do all the thinking here?)
Illi: Who’s your master?
Goblin: *cackling, growing with confidence* Bainx the Beastmaster.
Illi: Where is your master?
Goblin: Oh, you’re looking for Master. Good. Master will take care of you. *cackling again*
Illi: I asked, where is your master?
Goblin: Below. Down in the caves. Go, he’ll give you what you deserve.
Illi: He says his master is deeper in the caves.
Silas: Ask them how many of them there are.
Illi: How many of you are there?
Goblins: Thousands! Millions! *cackling*
Illi eyes grew wide: *thinking to herself* Thousands of goblins? We’ll be so outnumbered. Silas threw a bucket of water on the goblin.
Illi, noticing the goblin was getting overly confident, leaned in to tug at the arrow she had put in him earlier. Instead, Illi tripped and the goblin managed to get his arms around her neck - pulling her towards the cell bars, choking her.
Goblin: Tell them to let me go!
Illi: Help...
Goblin: *choking Illi harder, in common* Out. Me. Out! Or Kill.
Illi spurted out some blood. Silas, noticing that no one was making any moves, afraid of what might happen to his latest healing investment (=P), went in to the cage and chopped off the goblin’s head.
With the goblin down, the group’s attention turned to William and what to do next. We questioned William about the party behind him, noticing that he lied to us about whether or not he was working for the Piscene Corporation. This threw off Brinden and Silas – Brinden who had this little boy’s back, and Silas, who, well, hates the Piscene Corporation. Illi was put off by the thought that William was a bodyguard for a group of people – given how small he is (definitely smaller than Illi … !).
After much deliberation, we decided to rest in the cave. Brinden took the first watch. During his watch, he heard three loud ringing sounds, *bong bong bong*. After that, there was only quiet. Illi took the second watch. Upon being woken up by Brinden, Illi remembered something very important. William was awake, but kept his eyes shut, quietly listening.
Brinden (in somewhat of an off accent of Elvish): Illi, it’s your turn.
Illi: Huh. What. Oh. Wait. Brinden! Brinden wait, your pendant.
Brinden: What about my pendant?
Illi: It’s just like mine. Where did you get it?
Brinden: My father gave it to me when I became of age.
Illi: Your father? Who is your father?!
Brinden: I never knew my real parents. I don’t have many memories from my childhood. My mountain father gave me that pendant.
Illi: How did you end up in the mountains?
Brinden: I was dropped off there by an Old Lady with that pendant.
Illi: Old… old lady. *recognizing the description of her* It can’t be. Not her…
Brinden: What’s going on Illi?
Illi: That pendant, it’s just like mine… *under her breath* could we be related?
Brinden: I need to get some rest.
Illi: Right. Go ahead.
During Illi’s watch, William decided he had had enough of this group; he decided to try to sneak away. He was doing really well until he stepped on Silas’s tail. Silas woke with a start and took a swing at him. Instantly, Illi put jumped on his back and held him down while Silas tried to tie a rope around his feet. Brinden stabilized his legs… and Artemis, sweet Artie, threw her fuzzy blanket on him to calm him down. William relaxed, knowing there was no way out.
Artemis: Everybody, please calm down.
Silas: What are you doing?
William: I need to go!
Silas: Why? Where are you going?
William: I’m going back. I am their bodyguard; they’ll miss me, if I don’t come back.
Brinden: I had your back earlier – but you lied to us!
William: I’m scared. I just want to go back to my party and make sure they’re okay.
Brinden: We promised to save Nord, we need to go ahead. We could use the help.
After much deliberation, William decided to join us.
William: Well, another person is more money… I’ll come with you.
Illi: More money?
Just before we moved on, Brinden, Illi, and Artemis all heard the gong sound three times. Brinden mentioned to the group that he'd heard the same sound (what sound?? Silas and William were very confused) on his watch.
We descended down further in the cave, Illi still afraid – in the back, unsure of herself. We stopped at the mouth of the next room. Silas used thaumaturgy to make a sound in the center of the room to see if it alerted anyone.
William: What was that?
Silas: *whispering* It was me!
Brinden took a few steps back from Silas, uneasy around this use of magic (devilry and sorcery! D: ). No visual movement, no sound. The cave had smooth rock all around – it looked like it had been carved out ages ago. Brinden noticed there was some moss on the walls of the cave and decided to take it. He took deep breaths of moss, the smell reminding him of his mountain home. He offered some to William who agreed to smell it with him… (Not sure what they’re smoking here but yeah.). Curiosity took Silas, as he approached deeper into the cave and fell into a trap!
